Produce Buyer
Job Summary:
Truong Enterprises is seeking a strategic, efficient, and adaptive Produce Buyer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for researching, evaluating, planning, and procuring fresh fruits and vegetables, ensuring continuous business growth. Key duties include market research, competitor analysis, product evaluations, purchase order monitoring, and report generation for the management team. The ideal candidate is a highly organized critical thinker with experience in the produce industry—preferably in Asian produce—and a strong ability to analyze market trends, build vendor relationships, and drive cost-effective purchasing strategies.
Job Responsibilities:

Product Selection & Inventory Management

Estimate stock requirements based on inventory levels, sales orders, projected demand, and market conditions.

Select and order fresh fruits and vegetables to maintain optimal stock levels.

Supplier & Vendor Relations

Negotiate pricing and delivery terms to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.

Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships while ensuring on-time and quality deliveries.

Monitor and manage vendor agreements, bids, and contracts for accuracy and efficiency.

Purchase Order & Supply Chain Management

Prepare and manage purchase orders (POs) from initiation to completion.

Collaborate with warehouse and receiving teams to assess inventory condition and stock levels.

Market & Competitive Analysis

Conduct market research and competitor analysis to ensure competitive pricing and product selection.

Partner with the sales team to understand market trends, pricing strategies, and customer preferences.

Engage directly with customers to build relationships and identify demand for specific products.

Reporting & Analysis

Generate reports on purchasing performance, sales trends, and inventory efficiency for the management team.

Monitor and analyze economic conditions and industry trends to make data-driven buying decisions.

Requirements and Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in the produce industry (ethnic produce experience preferred).

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred but not required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Excellent multitasking skills with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills across multiple channels (in-person, phone, email, text).

Bilingual skills encouraged—Spanish or Chinese preferred.
