Receiving Manager 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dynamic Receiving Manager to oversee all inbound shipments within our 95,000 sq. ft. facility. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to collaborate with buyers, warehouse teams, and logistics vendors to ensure efficient and accurate receiving processes.

The Receiving Manager will lead a team of 15-20 inventory associates and staff, ensuring that all team members effectively complete their responsibilities in a timely manner. This position requires experience in produce handling, adaptability to changing business needs, and a commitment to continuous process improvement. Additionally, the Receiving Manager may participate in hiring, training, and disciplinary actions as necessary. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Inbound Shipment Coordination: Review, schedule, and plan for all incoming shipments, working closely with buyers and logistics vendors to anticipate and resolve potential issues. 

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Inspect all received shipments to ensure they meet company standards for quality and accuracy. 

  • Oversee staff scheduling and workload management to align with business demands. 

  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing coaching and feedback to drive efficiency and productivity. 

  • Train and mentor new associates on proper receiving, stacking, distribution, and equipment handling procedures. 

  • Enforce adherence to food safety regulations and company policies. 

  • Implement and refine best practices to maintain a safe and organized receiving operation. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and productivity while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including warehouse supervisors and management, to streamline department activities. 

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; however, a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is highly preferred. 

  • Minimum of three years of warehouse management and supervisory experience. 

  • Experience managing teams of 10+ associates. 

  • Prior experience in produce handling; experience with ethnic produce is a plus. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 

  • Strong multitasking ability and efficiency in fast-paced environments. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong leadership and team-building abilities. 

  • High level of professionalism, organizational, and planning skills. 

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. 

  • Ability to lead and manage a team. 

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. (and over 50 lbs. with assistance). 

  • Ability to perform tasks at waist, shoulder, and overhead levels. 

  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions, including cold and hot environments. 

  • Ability Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods throughout the work shift. 

  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
